Magnox has won two awards at the Babcock Support Services Division Excellence Awards, which was held recently at Drapers’ Hall in London.
The awards recognise individuals and teams who achieve excellence from across Babcock’s Support Services Division and its subsidiaries.
The Magnox Pond Decommissioning Project team at Hinkley Point won the Project/Service Delivery award, which recognised the major milestone of the drain down and stabilisation of the reactor one pond. The pond was one of the most challenging in Magnox and the work was delivered ahead of schedule with zero accidents.
The Magnox Lifetime Performance Plan team picked up an Exceptional Achievement Award for the revision of 13 baseline plans, which will have the potential to deliver significant savings to the UK taxpayer. This was a significant achievement, which was only made possible through the support and dedication of staff across all sites, programmes and functions, and delivered in a challenging 12-month timescale.
Commenting on the awards, Kenny Douglas, Magnox Managing Director, said:
“The teams should be very proud of what they have achieved and I am pleased that these significant achievements have been recognised. The outcomes could not have been possible without their focus, drive, and enthusiasm.
“Across Magnox there continues to be excellent work delivered, and this is reflected in the fact that we submitted 13 nominations for these awards.”
