Two events are due to take place near Bradwell Site in Essex so that members of the community can find out more about a planning application submitted to Essex County Council.
Magnox has applied for permission to use the site’s existing interim waste store for a limited number of similar packages from two other Magnox sites in the South East region.
The proposal, which follows three years of discussion, is now possible as the volume of waste at Bradwell and the other two sites is lower than anticipated. The robust containers would be securely stored at Bradwell until a national facility is available for ultimate disposal. It would avoid the need to construct similar facilities at the other sites which would represent a significant saving for taxpayers.
Find out more about the proposal, along with an update on other decommissioning activities progressing at the site, between 15:30 and 19:00 on:
- Tuesday 26 April 2016 at Bradwell-on-Sea Village Hall
- Wednesday 27 April 2016 at St. Peter and St. Paul Church Hall, High Street, West Mersea
